Jammu, Feb 22 : Two terrorists were killed in a joint security operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Sunday, officials said.

The operation, codenamed “Trashi-I”, was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, they said.

According to officials, troops of the Army’s White Knight Corps, in coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF, launched a search operation in the region. Contact was established with the terrorists earlier, and security forces re-engaged them at around 11 am in difficult terrain.

In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed, officials said, adding that their identities and group affiliations were being ascertained.

Security forces also recovered two AK-47 rifles and other war-like stores from the site of the encounter.

The area has been cordoned off and search operations are continuing, officials said.(KNS)
