Kulgam, June 14: The Central Government’s flagship campaign ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ concluded today with a grand ceremony at the Mountain Research Centre for Field Crops (MRCFC) in Khudwani, Kulgam, after successfully reaching over 1.72 lakh farmers across 174 Panchayat Halqas.

Launched on May 29, the 15-day campaign aimed to raise awareness about modern farming practices, sustainable technologies, and key government schemes promoting Natural Farming and self-sufficiency in agriculture.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, while addressing the gathering as the chief guest, said:

“This campaign sparked a farming revolution and strengthened Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a self-reliant and empowered agricultural community. The government is committed to supporting farmers through knowledge, technology, and access to schemes.

He urged agricultural scientists and officials to ensure that the benefits of all schemes effectively reach the grassroots and emphasized the importance of adopting advanced methods to boost productivity.

Dignitaries at the event included Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javaid Ahmad Dar, several MLAs from South Kashmir, DDC Chairman Kulgam, Vice Chancellor Nazir Ahmad Ganai, and directors of Agriculture, Horticulture, and Fisheries. Representatives from ICAR, KVK scientists, and hundreds of progressive farmers also participated.

During the program, the LG interacted with farmers, listened to their experiences, and distributed certificates of recognition. A minute’s silence was also observed to pay respects to those who lost their lives in the Ahmedabad plane crash. (KNS)
