Srinagar, Oct 23 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) legislator Waheed Parra on Monday said that the Assembly did not take up a resolution seeking the restoration of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board and its custodianship under the Muttahid-e-Majlis-e-Ulema.

In a post on X, Parra stated that the resolution was dropped during the Assembly ballot. He added that the matter would be formally brought to the attention of Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather, requesting him to use his discretion to include it in the House’s legislative business.

Parra emphasized that the Waqf Board is a sensitive, faith-linked institution and argued that the issue requires discussion in the legislature. The PDP lawmaker highlighted the need to return the custodianship of the board to local religious leadership under Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.(KNS).
