Baramulla, Mar 15 : Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have attached the property of a notorious drug peddler in Kunzar and arrested three persons in a separate operation in Tangmarg, officials said on Sunday.

A police spokesperson informed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a double-storey residential house, valued at approximately ₹10.62 lakh located at Tarhama Kunzar, has been formally attached. The property, identified as Khasra No. 391 Min, belongs to Habil Yaseen Dar, son of Mohammad Yaseen Dar, a resident of the same village.

Officials stated that a thorough investigation established that the property in question was illicitly acquired using proceeds generated from the sale and trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances. Habil Yaseen Dar is identified as a notorious drug peddler actively involved in narcotics trafficking across multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir, contributing significantly to the drug menace among the youth.

According to police records, Dar has an extensive criminal history and is booked in nine criminal cases. This includes six cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at various police stations across the Union Territory, in addition to three other criminal cases.

The attachment proceedings were carried out by a police team in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, the local Lambardar, and the Chowkidar to ensure full transparency and adherence to legal protocols.

In a separate operation, the crackdown on narcotics was intensified in the Zaspora area of Tangmarg. Police laid a successful trap that led to the busting of a drug peddling network and the arrest of three individuals.

During the operation, approximately 80 grams of a cannabis-like substance was recovered from the possession of the accused. Subsequent searches of their residential premises yielded further incriminating evidence, police added.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ab Hamid Dar of Treran Tangmarg, Ab Khaliq Khan of Zaspora, and Shagufta, wife of Farooq Ahmad Mir, a resident of Zaspora.

A case under FIR No. 10/2026 has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and a comprehensive investigation has been initiated.

The police have reiterated their unwavering commitment to continuing strict action against all individuals involved in drug peddling and to curb the growing narcotics menace in the region the police spokesperson further said. (KNS)
