New Delhi, Apr 9 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asserted that India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 cannot be realised without fully harnessing the country’s “maternal and feminine strength”.

In a video message, PM Modi as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said his experience of over 25 years in government has convinced him that women-led development is central to the national development process.

Addressing the women of the country directly, the Prime Minister recalled that the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, or the Women’s Reservation Bill, was passed a few years ago with the consensus of all political parties.

He expressed hope that by the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, women will get 33 per cent reservation in Parliament and state assemblies.

“All political parties had agreed to it. Everyone wants that in 2029, when the Lok Sabha elections are held, our national feminine strength should get 33 per cent seats in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister stated that he has been in discussions with political parties over the last several days, and most have extended their support, adding that he could see a “very positive atmosphere”.

PM Modi also informed that he has written an article in newspapers on these issues, sharing his thoughts, and urged people to read it and encourage others to do so.

He said he would read the comments of the people after they go through his article and did not wish to take up too much of their time. (KNS)
