Srinagar January 10 : The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, JandK shortlisted 48 best performers for the Under 14 cricket trial matches on the basis of score sheets and relevant documents, following the recommendations of the committee constituted for the purpose.

These 48 players were divided into four teams and trial matches were initiated after verification of Date of Birth certificates issued by competent authorities, as provided under SGFI norms.

A birth certificate issued by the birth registration authorities as proof of age is considered valid for all purposes, including SGFI guidelines. All 48 top performers were asked to submit original birth certificates as age proof. Out of these, 15 players have not been able to provide original copies. They have been asked to submit the same by tomorrow, failing which further action shall be taken as per laid down norms.

The public in general and the media fraternity in particular are requested to have trust in the system and avoid being judgmental before the final outcome of the exercise.(KNS)
