Srinagar, Jan 10 : A significant surge in tourist arrivals is being observed across Kashmir’s premier destinations following recent snowfall, with many visitors describing Kashmir as “India’s Switzerland.”
Speaking with Kashmir News Service (KNS), tourists expressed their awe, stating, “Kashmir is very beautiful. We used to watch reels and think it could not be that stunning, but in reality, it is beyond imagination. It feels like Jannat, a paradise on earth.”
Zeenat Shams, a tourist from Kolkata on her honeymoon speaking Exclusively with News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said, “I had heard Kashmir is beautiful, and coming here, I find it is really true it is Jannat.” She praised the local hospitality, adding, “The hospitality of the people here is truly unmatched. They are very good, very dear people. We really enjoyed meeting everyone and talking with them.” Speaking about the Drung Waterfall, she noted, “I had seen it in reels, but being here, it is amazing.” She urged her fellow countrymen, “Do not be afraid; it is a very beautiful place with wonderful people. Please come and visit Kashmir.”
Gajan, a tourist from Uttar Pradesh, said, “Coming here felt very good. Everyone is so nice, warm, and kind. Whatever had been said about Kashmir, experiencing it firsthand shows it is an absolutely peaceful and amazing place. One must visit.” He and his companion added, “It is a beautiful, safe, and peaceful place. Since we arrived yesterday, every moment spent here has been worthwhile. There is no sense of insecurity; it is a peaceful state with peace-loving people.” They concluded, “Come to Kashmir; it is safe. The people here are very good and exceptionally hospitable.”
Pretiq Singh, a tourist from Delhi, told Kashmir News Service (KNS), “Coming to Kashmir felt excellent. It is such a beautiful place.” He praised the Drung Waterfall, calling it “beautiful and amazing,” and appealed to others to visit Kashmir to enjoy its true beauty.
Adwith, a tourist from Mumbai, said, “Coming to Kashmir truly feels like a tour of paradise. It is only upon visiting Kashmir that one understands the vista of heaven.” He recommended, “One must visit Kashmir twice a year—once in summer and once in winter as both experiences are unforgettable.” He further added, “Kashmir is India’s Switzerland.”
Kashmir News Service (KNS), speaking with other tourists at the famous Drung Waterfall, found them describing Kashmir as “truly the crown of India and a paradise on earth.” Tourists noted that the beauty of Kashmir is unmatched in the world and called it “the Switzerland of India.” They also urged their fellow countrymen to visit Kashmir, questioning why one would travel abroad when such beauty exists at home.
Notably, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Friday, “2025 was difficult for us. Just as tourism was beginning to recover, the Delhi bomb blast proved to be another setback, following the deadliest Pahalgam terror attack earlier in the year.” He added, “However, since the snowfall began, tourism in Kashmir has increased.”
He indicated a shift in strategy regarding publicity, stating, “We will not release the tourism data this time. But we will continue to promote tourism; the numbers and our success ratio will remain with us.” (KNS)
