New Delhi, Mar 5 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine must end at the earliest, asserting that no problem can be settled through military confrontation alone.
Speaking after wide-ranging talks with visiting Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Modi said India and Finland share a common approach that emphasises dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law.
“Both countries believe in the rule of law and peaceful resolution of disputes. Whether it is Ukraine or West Asia, we support efforts aimed at an early end to conflicts and restoration of peace,” the prime minister said in a joint media statement.
The talks at Hyderabad House covered bilateral cooperation in areas such as digital technology, sustainability and emerging sectors. The two leaders agreed to elevate collaboration in digitalisation and sustainable development to a strategic partnership.
Modi said cooperation in areas ranging from artificial intelligence and 6G telecommunications to clean energy and quantum technologies would add new momentum to ties.
The prime minister also expressed confidence that the proposed India-European Union free trade agreement would further expand economic engagement between India and Finland by strengthening trade, investment and technology flows.
President Stubb, who arrived in India on a four-day visit on Wednesday, is expected to hold discussions with Indian leaders and business representatives to boost cooperation in trade, investment and critical technologies.
The visit comes amid efforts by both countries to diversify partnerships in high-technology sectors and deepen engagement within the broader India-EU framework.(KNS)
