Srinagar, Apr 5 : Mostly dry weather is expected across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days, with chances of brief showers in higher reaches during afternoon and evening hours, officials said on Sunday.

According to the India Meteorological Department, weather conditions on April 5 and 6 are likely to remain largely dry, although isolated areas, particularly in higher altitudes, may receive light showers.

A fresh western disturbance is expected to affect the region from April 7, bringing rainfall to parts of the Union Territory, they said.

Officials said the system is likely to impact the Jammu region first by late morning or afternoon on April 7, with gradual spread to parts of Kashmir by evening or night.

They said the intensity of the weather system is expected to be higher over Jammu, where moderate to heavy rainfall is likely, while the impact over Kashmir is expected to be comparatively less.

Areas along the Pir Panjal range, especially on the Jammu side, may receive relatively intense showers, the officials added.

Weather conditions are expected to improve from April 9, with mostly dry conditions likely to prevail again, although isolated showers in higher reaches cannot be ruled out.(KNS).
