Srinagar, July 04 : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, on Friday said that today marks the 8th of Muharram and officials have made several arrangements to ensure that people participating in the Azadari processions can do so comfortably.

He said that security arrangements have also been put in place along the entire route.

He said the traffic wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has made necessary arrangements along the main road where the procession is being held.

According to KNS, he said the aim is to ensure that commuters traveling to other places do not face any inconvenience.

Speaking to media persons, Birdi also responded to questions about the ongoing Amarnath Yatra. He said the yatra is underway and the J&K Police, along with other security agencies, have made multi-layered security arrangements.

He said the procession is continuing in a safe and secure manner.

On being asked about preparations for the 10th of Muharram, Birdi said that discussions with the organizers are ongoing.

He said similar coordination is taking place in other districts, where police and civil administration are in contact with local organizers to facilitate peaceful processions.(KNS).
