GULMARG, Jan 15 : The Baramulla district police, under Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gurinder Pal Singh, have finalized robust security and emergency preparedness plans for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.

Speaking to News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), SSP Singh confirmed that the main district-level function will be held in Baramulla town, with official ceremonies also planned at all sub-district tehsil headquarters.

“Our preparations are proceeding with full force. All operational units are conducting regular checks, and a series of special security operations have been launched, which will remain in effect until January 26,” Singh stated. “We are conducting extensive coordinated operations across the entire district and along inter-district boundaries.”

SSP Singh also detailed a significant multi-agency disaster response drill conducted today at Gulmarg. The exercise involved personnel from medical and emergency services, fire and rescue departments, local police, Special Operations Groups (SOG), deployed Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) including the BSF and CRPF, local volunteers, and the Indian Army.

“This joint rehearsal is a standard feature of our preparedness protocol, conducted periodically across the district,” Singh explained. “A similar drill was held at railway stations recently, and such operations in high-footfall areas are a routine part of our security framework.”

He said that these drills serve a critical purpose in enhancing operational readiness. “Through these exercises, we continuously refine our protocols and work to minimize response times. We analyze both positive outcomes and areas for improvement, ensuring that in an actual emergency scenario, our response is the most effective it can be,” the SSP added. (KNS)
