Srinagar/Jammu, Jan 22 : The Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) will conduct physical counselling on January 24 for the allocation of 50 supernumerary MBBS seats in newly established government medical colleges of the Union Territory, officials said on Thursday.

The counselling will begin at 10 am and will be held among 50 selected candidates of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME), with seat allocation to be carried out on the basis of merit-cum-preference, they said.

Officials said the supernumerary seats have been created in accordance with orders issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and will be distributed across seven new government medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir.

The entire counselling process will be completed on the same day, and all selected candidates will be allotted seats during the session, they added.

BOPEE has already issued a detailed notification in this regard vide Notification No. 015 of 2026 dated January 21, 2026, which has been uploaded on the official website of the board.

Officials said all 50 candidates have been informed about the counselling through various modes of communication.
