Srinagar, October 18 : Chief Minister and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said that the candidate for Budgam Bypolls would be announced in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Addressing a press conference, he said that the National Conference would announce its candidate for the Budgam Assembly Constituency Bypolls in the next 24 to 48 hours. “We still have 2 to 3 days to finalise names for the bypolls,” he said.

He also said the National Conference (NC) has requested its ally, Congress, to field a candidate from the Nagrota Assembly seat in the upcoming by-election next month, while NC will contest the Budgam seat.

“We’ve formally offered the Nagrota seat to Congress, even though NC won it in 2014, to help Congress build its base in Jammu as part of the alliance, if they agree,” he added. (KNS)
