DC Baramulla Reviews Khelo India Winter Games 2026 Arrangements

Baramulla, February 12 (KNS) : Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Minga Sherpa chaired a high-level meeting at Gulmarg Club to review and finalize arrangements for the successful conduct of the 6th Edition of Khelo India National Winter Games 2026, scheduled to be held from 23rd to 26th February 2026 at the world-famous ski resort Gulmarg. Athletes from various States and Union Territories are expected to arrive on 21st and 22nd February.

At the outset, the DC took a comprehensive review of the preparations being undertaken by different departments to ensure the smooth and hassle-free conduct of the prestigious national event. Detailed discussions were held on venue readiness, preparation and inspection of ski slopes, accommodation for athletes and officials, transportation plans, traffic management, medical facilities including emergency response teams, uninterrupted water and power supply, sanitation, snow clearance, security arrangements, and overall logistical coordination.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments, including J&K Sports Council, Police, Chief Medical Officer, PHE, PDD, Tourism, Municipal authorities, Transport, R&B, and other line departments, to work in close coordination and ensure that all arrangements are put in place well in advance.

He emphasized that no lapses will be tolerated and stressed the need to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and hospitality.

He further instructed officers to establish dedicated control rooms, deploy adequate manpower, and ensure round-the-clock availability of essential services during the event. Special focus was laid on the safety, comfort, and convenience of athletes, officials, guests, and visitors.

Highlighting the significance of the event, the DC stated that the Khelo India National Winter Games provide an important platform to showcase Gulmarg as a premier winter sports destination of the country. He reiterated that the district administration is fully committed to hosting the event in a well-organized, safe, and successful manner.
