Srinagar, Apr 25 : Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday conducted searches inside Central Jail Srinagar in connection with a terror-linked case and recovered digital devices, officials said.
The searches were carried out following a warrant issued by a court designated under the NIA Act in connection with FIR No. 06/2023 registered at Police Station CI Kashmir under relevant sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, they told KNS.
Acting on technical inputs about the presence of suspicious digital signatures within the prison premises, CIK teams carried out searches across multiple barracks and blocks in coordination with jail authorities, the officials said.
“Incriminating material in the form of digital communication devices was recovered and seized during the operation,” an official said, adding that the devices will be sent for forensic examination to ascertain links, if any, with a larger terror network.
The agency is also probing a possible security breach that may have facilitated the entry of such devices into the high-security jail, they said.
Officials said the role of facilitators or collaborators, if any, will be investigated and legal action taken accordingly.
They said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb terror activities and dismantle support networks operating from within jails.
Further investigation is underway, the officials added.(KNS)
