Srinagar, July 5 : The J&K National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President and Hon’ble CM Omar Abdullah, on the solemn observance of Youm-e-Ashura, paid rich tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his 72 revered companions, recalling their ultimate sacrifice at the Battle of Karbala as a timeless symbol of courage, faith, and resistance against tyranny.

In a statement issued to KNS, Dr Farooq said that the unparalleled sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Aali Muqam (AS) and his companions remains a guiding light for all humanity. “Imam Hussain (AS) is not the legacy of a particular sect, but a universal figure whose steadfastness, sacrifice, and moral integrity continue to inspire generations. His resistance against injustice and oppression carries an eternal message of hope, justice, and dignity,” he said.

He further added, “The martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) teaches us that those who uphold truth and righteousness achieve immortality, while tyrants, regardless of their temporary victories, are ultimately condemned by history.May the observance of Youm-e-Ashura lead us all towards peace, harmony, and spiritual renewal, not only in Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, but across the country.”

CM Omar Abdullah emphasized the historical and spiritual significance of Muharram. He said the month marks one of the most profound chapters in Islamic history, when Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his noble family upheld the principles of justice, truth, and submission to the will of Almighty Allah.

“Through their patience, perseverance, and sacrifice, Imam Aali Muqam (AS) and his companions drew a clear line between good and evil. Their legacy is a moral compass for humanity,” Omar Abdullah said. He urged the people to reflect on the values of unity, compassion, and righteousness that are central to the message of Karbala.(KNS)
