Kulgam, Sept 24 (TKM): Minister Sakina Itoo on Wednesday said the Omar Abdullah-led government has given top priority to strengthening healthcare and protecting Kashmir’s horticulture sector while ensuring development reaches people at their doorsteps.

Inaugurating a new health building worth Rs 2.71 crore at Aravani village, she said the government is working to ensure better medical facilities. “From new hospitals to MRI and cath labs, our focus is to improve patient care and provide facilities at people’s doorsteps,” she said.

On former CM Mehbooba Mufti’s allegation that the present dispensation has “broken the back” of fruit growers, Itoo strongly defended the government. “Horticulture is the backbone of Kashmir’s economy. If our growers are facing difficulties today, it is due to years of neglect and wrong policies of previous governments. We are committed to protecting and strengthening this vital sector,” she said, as per KNS.

Itoo further demanded an investigation into the development works executed after 2018. “Even a little rain damages roads and bunds. There must be vigilance and inquiry into why such works have collapsed despite huge spending,” she remarked.

“The purpose of this government is clear we want to serve the people and reduce their problems with sincerity,” she said.(TKM)
