Srinagar, Jul 24 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday visited Lalpora, Beerwah in Budgam district to meet the family of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists in Anantnag earlier this week.
The Lieutenant Governor laid wreath and paid glowing tributes to the braveheart, describing his sacrifice as “etched in the collective memory of the nation”.
“The entire country is proud of the indomitable courage and devotion to duty shown by Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi. He has laid down his life for the motherland and his martyrdom will continue to inspire the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” Sinha said.
Assuring the bereaved family of full support from the administration, Sinha said all welfare measures will be taken care of and the family will not be left alone.
“The administration stands firmly with the family of the martyr. We will ensure that martyr Ashiq Hussain Qureshi’s son gets full support from the government till he completes his education and becomes eligible for compassionate appointment,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
Sinha also highlighted the significant achievements made under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in dismantling the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory.
“I want to assure the people that terrorism will be eliminated from Jammu and Kashmir. Our security forces are working with utmost valour and commitment to ensure a safe and prosperous future for all,” Sinha asserted.
The Lieutenant Governor made a fervent appeal to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to draw inspiration from the martyr’s dedication to “Maa Bharti” and remain united in the fight against terrorism.
“Head Constable Qureshi has shown us what true patriotism means. I call upon the youth to follow his ideals and contribute in building a peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
The attack on the head constable had sparked widespread condemnation, with the Lieutenant Governor earlier stating that “this heinous act will not go unpunished” . Security forces have launched operations to track down the assailants.
The martyr’s body was laid to rest with full state honours earlier this week as the entire police force and civil administration paid their respects to the fallen hero. (KNS).
