Srinagar, July 24 : Director General of Police, Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, on Friday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir to comprehensively assess the prevailing security scenario and emerging challenges across the Union Territory.
The meeting witnessed the participation of top police brass, including Special DG (Coordination), ADGP Headquarters, ADGP CID, IGP Kashmir Zone, IGP Jammu Zone, and other senior officers from various wings, including Security, Railways, Traffic, and Crime. Range DIGs, all District SSPs, Commandants of JKAP/IRP Battalions, and other key functionaries were also present.
At the outset, officers provided a detailed briefing on the current operational environment, threat perceptions, and the preparedness of field formations. Emphasizing a proactive approach, DGP Prabhat directed officers to intensify area domination and night domination exercises, particularly in vulnerable and urban sectors, to effectively deter anti-national elements. He called for a robust strengthening of the security grid around critical infrastructure and underscored the need to enhance intelligence collection and coordination among all security and intelligence agencies .
Reviewing the counter-terrorism framework, the DGP stressed the importance of intensifying intelligence-led operations to identify, track, and neutralize any remaining terror networks. He highlighted the need for close synergy among all stakeholders to ensure swift operational responses and counter any attempts to disrupt public order or undermine the security environment . This comes amid heightened security concerns following recent incidents in the valley .
Recognizing the crucial role of reliable communication in modern policing, Nalin Prabhat directed officials to ensure uninterrupted telecommunication connectivity and resilient communication networks across all formations. He further called for heightened situational awareness and continuous oversight of weather-related preparedness, mandating that communication networks and field-level coordination remain fully operational to address any emergencies arising from inclement weather.
Concluding the meeting, the DGP urged all officers to remain mission-focused, vigilant, and responsive. He reiterated that coordinated action and sustained preparedness are essential to safeguarding peace and maintaining public confidence across the Union Territory. (KNS)
