Jammu, Mar 2 : The Jammu and Kashmir State Election Commission has convened a meeting on March 3 to review the ongoing revision of Panchayat electoral rolls for 2026 and assess the progress of delimitation of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), officials said.

The meeting will be chaired by the State Election Commissioner at 2.30 pm through video conferencing from Jammu, they said.

According to officials, the review will focus on the status of the electoral roll revision exercise, updating of control tables and preparedness at the district level. The progress of delimitation of ULBs across the Union Territory will also be examined.

All Deputy Commissioners, who function as District Election Officers, have been directed to participate in the meeting along with Deputy District Election Officers, District Informatics Officers and members of Electoral Registration Teams through virtual mode.

Senior officials from the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, including administrative secretaries and directors from Jammu and Kashmir divisions, have also been asked to attend. The Deputy Commissioner of Jammu and representatives of the National Informatics Centre will join the deliberations.

Officials said the meeting assumes significance as the Commission seeks to ensure timely completion of the electoral roll revision process ahead of forthcoming Panchayat-level exercises.

They added that the review is aimed at streamlining procedures, maintaining accuracy in voter lists and strengthening the electoral framework for local self-governance institutions in the Union Territory.(KNS).
