Srinagar, Dec 22 : Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat on Monday asserted that terrorism and all forms of crime will remain under relentless surveillance of the Union Territory’s police and security forces, saying there will be zero tolerance for activities threatening peace and security.

Speaking after inaugurating the 14th Police Martyrs Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament 2025–26 at Kathua, the DGP said that criminal networks. ranging from terror groups and their support structures to drug smugglers, gangsters and mafia elements are firmly on the radar of law enforcement agencies.

“Whether it is terrorism, drugs, gangsters or any other criminal activity, everything will remain under the police scanner,” he said, adding that the primary objective of the police force is to completely eradicate anti-national and anti-social elements from Jammu and Kashmir.

Prabhat said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in close coordination with other security agencies, is carrying out sustained and aggressive operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), sympathisers, drug traffickers and hawala operators. These coordinated actions, he said, are aimed at dismantling the entire terror ecosystem, including its financial and logistical support base.

He further said that drug trafficking and hawala rackets are being treated as serious national security threats, as proceeds from such illegal activities are often diverted to fund terror operations in the region.

Highlighting border security measures, the DGP said that infiltration, exfiltration, drug smuggling and drone-related activities originating from across the border are being effectively countered.

The DGP further said that security preparedness is reviewed regularly at the highest level, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chairing periodic meetings to assess the situation and operational outcomes.

He added that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is kept regularly informed about the security scenario and progress made in curbing terrorism in the Union Territory.(KNS)
