SRINAGAR, Feb 25 : Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived here on Wednesday evening for his maiden visit to the Kashmir Valley, during which he will attend the 21st convocation of the University of Kashmir, officials said.
The Vice President was received by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and senior officials of the administration and police upon his arrival at the technical airport at around 5 PM, officials added.
“Delighted to welcome Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji at the Srinagar Airport,” the Office of the LG J&K posted on X, as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).
A senior police officer told News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) security has been intensified across Srinagar, particularly along Airport Road and at key installations, to ensure smooth movement during the visit.
He added that the traffic police have issued an advisory regarding the movement of vehicles on February 26 in view of the VVIP movement.
Official sources said the Vice President proceeded to Raj Bhawan in Srinagar immediately after his arrival. He is scheduled to attend the 21st Convocation of the University of Kashmir tomorrow. (KNS)
