Srinagar, Aug 13 : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, on Wednesday extended an open invitation to the public for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, calling it a “festival for all” and assuring that, as in previous years, every citizen is welcome.
Speaking to the media, as per KNS correspondent Bidhuri said, “This is the festival for everyone. All are invited, just like last year. Your ID card will serve as your entry pass.”
He recalled how, despite heavy rains in 2024, people turned up in large numbers at the venue, displaying their patriotic spirit.“We expect the same enthusiasm this year as well,” he said.
The main function in the Kashmir division is expected to witness elaborate arrangements at the Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar.
The Div Com said that those arriving early would be served traditional Kashmiri kehwa and provided comfortable seating arrangements.
Security agencies have been coordinating closely with the administration to ensure smooth conduct of the celebrations, which will be marked by the unfurling of the national flag, cultural performances.(KNS)
