Srinagar, Oct 7 : Congress Legislature Party (CLP) Leader and All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, on Tuesday said that the Congress and National Conference (NC) will maintain coordination for both the Rajya Sabha and two seats of Assembly elections, and the final decision on seat-sharing will be taken by the party’s top leadership soon.

He told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that a meeting was held today to discuss matters related to the upcoming elections; however, the final decision is yet to be taken by the high command

He added that a another meeting will be held likely on October 14 or 15 to take further decisions. “There will be no confrontation. The Assembly issue will also be discussed tomorrow. We will work together in a spirit of understanding,” Mir stated.

Clarifying the alliance understanding with NC, Mir said, “If the National Conference contests one seat, whether in Rajya Sabha or Assembly, we will support them wholeheartedly. And when Congress contests another seat, we expect their support in return. The party high command will take the final call within the next 24 hours.”

He said both the state unit and the legislature party have authorized the leadership to decide on behalf of the party. “Ultimately, the coalition has to move forward together and ensure victory in both elections,” he said.

Criticizing the BJP, Mir said that the saffron party’s attempt to field candidates on all four seats was aimed at creating unnecessary political disturbance.(KNS).
